Detailed and Decorative Darning
Join Molly Rooke of Darn Good Studio for a workshop in detailed and decorative darning!
This workshop is the next level on from an Introduction to Darning. If you already feel confident in basic darning, or you’ve been on Molly’s introduction to darning course, this session focuses on more decorative and detailed darns, including a couple of different techniques including scotch and honeycomb darning.
This workshop is aimed at intermediate skill level (a knowledge of basic darning is helpful)
All tools and materials will be provided on the day.
Introduction to Darning
Learn the basics to repair holes and areas that need reinforcing in your favourite knitwear with Molly Rooke of Darn Good Studio.
Samplers will be provided but do feel free to bring along items you’d like advice on repairing.
We will only be able to run this class with 3 or more participants.

Introduction to Visible Mending @ John Arbon Open Mill Weekend
The visible mending movement is all about sharing and celebrating acts of repair. In this class you'll learn the traditional skill of darning with a contemporary twist, with Molly Rooke from Darn Good Studio in Exeter.
Use colourful yarns and threads to accentuate and celebrate your mends. Participants will learn how to darn on a knitted sampler, with all materials included.
Skill Level Information: For beginners and / or any skill level, or anyone who wants a refresher on darning.
What is included? You will receive a visible mending starter kit with hoop, needles and a few threads to keep - additional shades of thread, and a swatch of fabric will be provided during the workshop to practice with. You will also receive a complimentary voucher for a beverage from the pop-up MOW café.
What do students need to bring? Please bring along anything you would like advice on mending, otherwise all materials are provided.
Darn it! at Bovey Craft Festival
£25 per person. All materials included.

Join Molly Rooke of Darn Good Studio to learn how to mend your clothes using the traditional art of darning. Particularly good for knitwear, cotton and denim, darning can help your clothes last longer and you can make darns joyful and fun too.

Learn how to Swiss darn (also known as duplicate stitch), to blend your mends in to knitwear.
If you’re new to darning I would recommend taking the Introduction to Darning course before embarking on the Swiss Darning session.
All materials are included in the price of the class. Classes are held in the small workshop space at the back of Bunyip from 6-8pm. We have no more than 5 participants per class.

We will be learning the traditional woven darn, and this session is suitable for beginners or those wishing to improve their basic darning skills.

Do you want to learn to mend your clothes but don’t know where to begin? Then this is the course for you! Join Molly Rooke of Darn Good Studio for a 2 hour session which covers the complete basics of mending, giving you the skills to do simple repairs on most damaged clothing.
All materials are provided, but do bring along any items you’d like advice on getting to grips with mending.
£25 per person (inc.materials)
Sashiko Stitch Workshop
Learn the traditional japanese art of sashiko stitching to patch and reinforce your clothes. This beautiful visible mending style is perfect for denim or cotton garments. Samplers will be provided but do bring along anything you’d like to work with for guidance and advice.
All materials are included in the price of the class. Workshops are held in the small workshop space at the back of the shop from 6-8pm. We will have no more than 5 customers per class, and the classes will only run if we have 3 or more participants.

All darning materials included. Samplers will be provided but you can also bring an item of knitwear that you'd like to mend yourself - socks and jumpers are particularly good to work on.

Learn a range of mending techniques that can be applied to most clothing repair emergencies. From simple fixes to decorative solutions, we’ll cover basic stitches and go through some great ways to use mending to enhance and celebrate making your clothes more unique.
This workshop is open to complete beginners and no previous experience of embroidery is needed. It is also suitable for anyone who might want a refresher!

Clothing Mending Surgery
In collaboration with Killerton House and Sustainable Fashion Week.
To coincide with our Thirsty for Fashion Exhibition at Killerton and Sustainable Fashion Week (25 September - 8 October), we invite you to drop in and learn more to move away from throwaway fashion.
Join Molly from Darn Good Studios and Cat from Mend Assembly who can demonstrate a wide range of skills and answer your questions.
This is an informal drop in session and you can stay for as little or as long as you like.
The session will be held in our Engine House meeting room before you enter the Killerton pay barrier with parking available.
Swiss Darning

Do you want to learn how to mend your own clothes? Swiss darning is an exciting skill that is used in the work of contemporary designers and makers showcased within our Thirsty for Fashion Exhibition at Killerton.
To coincide with Sustainable Fashion Week (25 September – 8 October), we have teamed up with Molly at Darn Good Studio who will lead a 3 hour workshop. All materials are provided.
This intimate session is suitable all over 12. The session will be held in our Engine House meeting room before you enter the Killerton pay barrier with parking available.
